Hello, Pack 559!

It's almost time for the Castle Rock Trail hike! Just south of Denver this hike climbs to the base of the famous Castle Rock.

Important Reminder: YOU MUST RSVP to the Hike Leader, David Vanderploeg (Call or Text: 303-506-3654), if you plan on attending so we know how many to expect and who to meet up with at the trail head!

When: Sunday, 3/18, at 1:00PM

Where: Rock Park Parking Lot, Castle Rock, CO 80104 (Street Parking also available on Canyon Drive).

Why: Scouts do fun stuff outdoors; We live in Colorado and it's beautiful; A Scout is Physically Strong and hiking is good exercise; Need I say loopies!

Who: All Pack 559 Scouts, their family and human friends! (please leave the furry ones at home)

Attire: Class-B uniforms (gold or new blue Pack T-Shirts) and all scouts should bring their ten outdoor essentials in a day pack. The ten essentials (eight for wolves and tigers) are an important part of the BSA motto "Be Prepared!" and should be a part of every outdoor scouting event. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scout_Outdoor_Essentials.

The Wolf Eight Essentials are: First aid kit, Filled water bottle, Flashlight, Trail food, Sunscreen,Whistle, Rain gear, Pocket knife. The Bear and Webelos Ten Essentials are all of the above plus Map/Compass and Matches/Fire starter.

I created a lightweight gear on a budget guide: https://lighterpack.com/r/ba2ko2

What Else to Bring: Please wear sneakers or hiking boots, no sandals, wear Pack559 t-shirt. Also, please be sure to bring day a pack, including rain gear, hat, enough water, lunch and snacks.

Brush up on the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace Guidelines before the hike so that we can all act like Scouts while we are there!
