Ladora Lake Trail

Join us for a hike around Ladora Lake at Rocky Mountain Arsenal, a National Wildlife Refuge.

Directions

Hello, Pack 559!

Because of muddy conditions Deer Creek Canyon has been temporarily closed. Instead we will be heading out to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal this weekend to hike around Ladora Lake. It's the Packs first time hiking here and it should be awesome!

Important Reminder: YOU MUST RSVP to the Hike Leaders, Stuart and Christel Jones (stuartmjones@gmail.com, christelhjones@gmail.com), if you plan on attending so we know how many to expect and who to meet up with at the trail head!

When: Sunday, 4/8, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Where: Ladora Lake Parking Area https://goo.gl/maps/J71omtapfRr

Why: Scouts do fun stuff outdoors; We live in Colorado and it's beautiful; A Scout is Physically Strong and hiking is good exercise; Need I say loopies!

Who: All Pack 559 Scouts, their family and human friends! (please leave the furry ones at home)

Attire: Class-B uniforms (new blue or gold Pack T-Shirts) and all scouts should bring their ten outdoor essentials in a day pack. The ten essentials (eight for wolves and tigers) are an important part of the BSA motto "Be Prepared!" and should be a part of every outdoor scouting event. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scout_Outdoor_Essentials.

The Wolf Eight Essentials are: First aid kit, Filled water bottle, Flashlight, Trail food, Sunscreen,Whistle, Rain gear, Pocket knife. The Bear and Webelos Ten Essentials are all of the above plus Map/Compass and Matches/Fire starter.

I created a lightweight gear on a budget guide: https://lighterpack.com/r/ba2ko2

What Else to Bring: Please wear sneakers or hiking boots, no sandals, wear Pack559 gold t-shirt. Also, please be sure to bring day a pack, including rain gear, hat, enough water, lunch and snacks.

Brush up on the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace Guidelines before the hike so that we can all act like Scouts while we are there!
