Pack 559 is one of the oldest Cub Scout Packs in the South Denver metro area. Our Pack was chartered October 1, 1969! Our sponsor ("chartered organization") is the Sandburg Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Organization. While most of the Pack's members are Sandburg students, we have many Scouts from other LPS schools, other school districts, and Scouts that are homeschooled. All are welcome to join us!
All the Scouts together is called a Pack, which is led by the Cubmaster. The Pack is directed by a Pack Committee with a Chairperson and Chartered Organization Representative, along with a Treasurer, Secretary, and other key volunteers. Scouts in each grade level create a Den, which is led by the Den Leader. Each grade has a rank that is achieved after the Scouts have completed all the required adventures and meet any additional requirement of the Pack. Pack 559 is part of the Black Feather District within the Denver Area Council of Scouting America.

Pack 559 is organized entirely by parent volunteers. There is a job for everyone and and we hope you'll consider joining the ranks of leadership in our Pack! If you have questions or you're interested in volunteering for a vacant leadership position (see vacancies below), please email the Pack at pack559sandburg@gmail.com.
If you're not ready to commit to a full-time leadership position, there will be additional volunteer opportunies throughout the year coordinating Pack events including: Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Banquet, Pack community service projects, and Crossover events. These opportunities will be communicated as they arise.

Cubmaster
Adam O'RourkePlans and runs the monthly pack meeting. Serves as the master of ceremonies. Provides support to Den Leaders. The contact for scouts.
Assistant Cubmaster: Functions as the Cubmaster when they are unavailable. May run several Pack Meetings.

Charter Representative
Jess PramovA volunteer to represent the Charter Organization and Pack 559 to the district committee, local council, and the BSA.
Committee Chairman
Ryan McNeilThe top volunteer in the pack is the Pack Committee Chair. Plans and organizes the scouting program for the year. Recruits adult leaders. Leads the monthly committee meetings. Submits annual Recharter to Council. The contact for adults.
Assistant Committee Chair: Functions as the Committee Chair when they are unavailable. In line to become the next Committee Chair.

Treasurer
Jeff SteenhoekMaintains Pack Account and Scout Account checking accounts. Reimburses leaders for expenses. Collects annual dues. Files annual tax return. Works with fundraising chairs.
Secretary | Engagement
Emily PowellKeeps minutes of monthly committee meetings and annual planning meeting. Maintains scout and adult leader applications. Maintains the calendar and inputs events into Scoutbook. Manages internal communications. Manages facility reservations at Sandburg. Works with advancement & awards chair.
Campout | Hike Leader
TBDRecruits monthly hike leaders and organizes the Fall and Spring Campouts. Supports hike leaders in choosing appropriate hikes. Maintains record of hike attendance. Keeps track of the loopie box. Awards hiking sticks in May.
Volunteer Coordinator | Blue and Gold Pot Luck
TBDCoordinates Volunteers for Activities, such as Caroling, Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold Pot Luck, and Crossover.
Advancement & Awards | New Members
TBDAcquires patches, belt loops, pins, cards, and special awards from the scout shop. This is easy to do if the “Needs Awarding” report in Scoutbook is accurate. Restocks den leader award tackle boxes during the summer.
New Member Coordinator: Organizes Join Night in August/September. Orders promotional materials from Council. Arranges for flyer distribution in Friday folders. Promotes Scouts within the school at lunch, meet the teacher night, etc. Updates pack newsletter with Cubmaster and Committee Chair. Ensures new scouts and their parents have forms, class B t-shirt, neckerchief, and book.

TBDCAMP CARDS: Runs the spring camp card sale. Distributes camp cards. Tracks square readers. Manages return of cards and money to Council.
POPCORN (Not Currently Applicable): Runs the fall popcorn sale. Orders and tracks inventory. Arranges storefront sales. Tracks square readers. Orders awards and popcorn patches.
**Scouts will have opportunities to earn funds which will be held in their own “Scout Account”, through fundraising. The Scout Account monies can be used for summer camp registration, Pack dues, uniform costs, or equipment purchased at the Scout Store, e.g. knives, hats, sleeping bags, etc.
